Our annual
Neil Smyth tournament was held last Saturday and Sunday May 28 & 29. If you were there to play or to watch, I hope you agree, when I say it was a
GREAT SUCCESS. There were players of all ages, all skills and all nationalities. It was a fantastic two days of table tennis culminating in the
semi-finals and finals with four players all of which were ranked above 2,700. Watching the finals made me think
“These guys play with the same paddles, the same ball and on the same table as I do. BUT it’s a different game. Wow”.
Such an event is not easy to put together and there are many volunteers to be thanked ranging from the many that helped to prepare the hall and take down at the end of the tournament to the SDTTA board that, for better or for worse, made the decisions of dates, prize money, registration fees etc. Special thanks and congratulations to our tournament director
Emilian Mihet who was the master of ceremonies during the two days.
See you back at the club when most of us will be playing table tennis but of a different kind. Most important though, is that we enjoy the game as much as world class players.

Thanks again to all the participants who made this possible.
