The October tournament was a big success with the results listed below. The tournament has now moved to the 3rd Sunday of each month, with the next one being held on November 18th. Hope to see you there!!
Our San Diego Senior team received a very warm welcome upon our arrival and the draws were already prepared. We played in Single, Doubles, and Brazilian events. We were invited to lunch around 12. The games were concluded around 4 p.m.
Our team players were Phil Van De Wiele, Ding Chuan, Jerry Harris, Bob Koch, Behnam Kazemi, Jim Nielson, Rubin, Shelley Hardy, James Kahn, Danny Williams, Holey Li, Morteza Beheshti, Roy Lyon, Fred Witte, Annette Witte, Juybari, Huynh Nancy and Patrick Kilian. I like to thank the event organizers and hope to invite Laguna Hills team to visit us in San Diego soon. Thanks everybody again for joining our team and making it a successful event.
Our annual Neil Smyth tournament was held last Saturday and Sunday May 28 & 29. If you were there to play or to watch, I hope you agree, when I say it was a GREAT SUCCESS. There were players of all ages, all skills and all nationalities. It was a fantastic two days of table tennis culminating in the semi-finals and finals with four players all of which were ranked above 2,700. Watching the finals made me think “These guys play with the same paddles, the same ball and on the same table as I do. BUT it’s a different game. Wow”.
Such an event is not easy to put together and there are many volunteers to be thanked ranging from the many that helped to prepare the hall and take down at the end of the tournament to the SDTTA board that, for better or for worse, made the decisions of dates, prize money, registration fees etc. Special thanks and congratulations to our tournament director Emilian Mihet who was the master of ceremonies during the two days.
See you back at the club when most of us will be playing table tennis but of a different kind. Most important though, is that we enjoy the game as much as world class players.

Last Saturday, at Ping Pong Fit (in Tijuana), there was an open table tennis tournament.
Over twenty players participated from Tijuana, Rosarito and Ensenada and San Diego. Four members of San Diego Balboa Table Tennis club played in this tournament: David Flores, Behnam Kazemi, Ruben and Jonathan Mejia. It was a well organized and well run tournament. First place went to our David Flores, 2nd place to Rene Dominguez (Ensenada), and 3rd place Behnam.

We had the league finals for A teams yesterday. There were lots of close and exciting matches. The first place winner of $400 was Balboa team of Javid, Kim, Koji, and Sumnik. The second place winner of $250 from WCTTA were Lei, Jia, Xie and Kiet. I like to thank all the League players for participating in our Fall season. The Spring season League will start soon.
