Treasurer’s Report: None.
Webmaster Report/ Daryl Sterling: No report.
Membership Report: Our current paid membership count is.
Equipment Report: Our current table count is 30.
Action Items:
- Jene discussed having a women’s training group with D.J. Alto. It was brought up by the Board that having D.J. Alto being the trainer would be overkill and maybe an intermediate-skilled player would suffice. Jene will spearhead the project and see how much interest there is.
- D.J. Alto discussed the progress of the Juniors program and has a good core of 7 kids and as many as 10 have shown up.
- D.J. Alto was requesting $100 per student for the Juniors group participation. Bob suggested that a flat group fee would work better than a per student rate. After much debate, the Board came up with a monthly compensational fee of $250, with the balance to be paid by the parents. Mark made a motion to set the monthly payment to D.J. Alto at $250 and James seconded the motion. It was passed by the Board with Borko and Behnam abstaining.
- Michele addressed the Board on the future closing (2015) of the gym for 3 weeks in order for the floor to be resurfaced. We suggested that the December holiday season would probably work the best for us. She agreed and will suggest this when the time comes to schedule the work.
- Michele talked to the Board about the requirements and insurance responsibilities of anyone wanting to become an independent contractor. She gave all Board members a handout on the BPAC requirements for independent contractors.
- The Board will submit to BPAC our proposal to have the Club hours change, so that the start time will be the same for all days, which will be 4:00pm. This will only affect Mondays and Fridays. The closing time will remain unchanged.
- Borko requested that the Board meeting agenda be submitted at least 1 week in advance of the scheduled meeting. This will give members time to research any topic that will be brought up for discussion.
The motion to adjourn was made by James and seconded by Mark at 9:15pm.
The next meeting is November 11th at 7:00pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Bob Koch, SDTTA Secretary
Starting immediately, table tennis barriers will
no longer be allowed to be placed at the edge of the gym floor next to the cement pathway. The barriers will be moved in roughly
3 feet up to the first yellow line. All tables will be shifted 3 feet to make up for the distance.
Because of safety reasons, people need a safe pathway to walk freely without obstacles In the way.
Staff will be enforcing this action starting Tuesday, September 30th.
Thank you for your cooperation.

The motion was made to approve the SDTTA Board Member minutes for August 2014 by Mark and seconded by James. The Board carried the motion.
Treasurer’s Report: None.
Webmaster Report/ Daryl Sterling: No report.
Membership Report: Our current paid membership count is.
Equipment Report: Our current table count is 30.
Action Items:
- Filling the Treasurer’s position was tabled until the Board elections of November/December.
- The Juniors program started last Friday (Sept 5th) with a total of 7 kids attending. Bob had an idea of offering “scholarships” to individual kids to help pay for the training. The item will be brought up at the next Board meeting once it is determined if there is interest in sustaining the program. We would also like to set goals for D.J. Alto and his “team” so that certain benchmarks are achieved over the life of the program.
We will get in touch with Daryl and have him advertise the “Junior” program on our website, which will be on Friday nights starting at 6:30pm.
- John mentioned that Isaac’s school would be interested in having us loan them 2 tables to help generate interest in table tennis. Borko will talk to Isaac and have him contact his principal to see if we should move forward on this item.
- The potluck picnic that was scheduled for September 13th, along with the equipment swap meet, has been rescheduled for September 27th, due to the Senior Games being held at the club.
- The first Sorrento-SDTTA club event was held on Sept 13th. It did not go as planned since one of the Sorrento teams didn’t show up, which then created an odd number. The format used, created too much waiting around for many participants, so hopefully lessons were learned and future events will run more smoothly.
- James attended the L.A. Open recently and shared with the Board his experiences and discussions he had with the L.A. club’s president. Our club could learn a lot by the way the L.A. Club runs their L.A. Open, and they would be willing to assist us in making the Neil Smyth Tournament more successful. The L.A. club also expressed interest in teaming up with SDTTA and maybe have a southern California table tennis tournament in the future. James would like to plan a meeting with the L.A. club president to discuss any future endeavors between the two clubs.
- The idea was presented that we should start filming the top table on our Thursday night round robins and then posting them on our website. James and Bob will look into it and see what equipment is needed and what other issues need to be overcome.
The motion to adjourn was made by Mark and seconded by Bob at 7:51pm.
The next meeting is October 14th at 7:00pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Bob Koch, SDTTA Secretary
The club picnic will have to be rescheduled from September 13 as Volleyball will have all of BPAC that day. The following week is the Senior Olympics in Table Tennis. The fee is $45 and 26 players have signed up so far. The club will have a team match against Sorrento this Saturday the 6th. Let me know if you want to participate.
